Dear Community Leader:
Ossining’s core values of sharing and collaboration continue to thrive. In the spirit of cooperation around improving the lives of children, families, and individuals in our community, we are pleased to invite you to a very special event, to continue the discussion we began last year.
As you already know, Ossining Communities That Care (OCTC) is a coalition of many organizations and individuals committed to strengthening the community on behalf of youth and families. On October 19th, OCTC will host a special half-day event for a diverse group of community leaders, including you.
We are pleased to invite you to: Putting Vision Into Action to Value Our Youth
Featured Speakers: Mr. Michael Orth and Mr. Tom Gill
Monday, October 19, 2008
Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Avenue
8:30 am – 12 noon Breakfast will be served.
Michael Orth is the 2nd Deputy Commissioner at the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health. Tom Gill is Director of Special Education and the Child Study and Guidance Center at PNW BOCES Both Michael Orth and Tom Gill established the Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies Training Institute and are recognized across NY State as experts in their field.
The program will be an interactive workshop focused on examining our community-wide expectations for youth and developing a plan for a local initiative to value our youth in Ossining. We will review the collaborative efforts that exist on behalf of youth and create an action plan that will include the creation of concrete steps of how we can achieve our goals together.
It is essential to have the decision makers of the community present, as they are the people who have the potential be the agents of change.
Your participation is critical to the success of the day. Please RSVP to Alice Joselow via email at thejoselows@verizon.net, by phone at 329-2936 or by faxing the attached form to 914-941-2794. Please RSVP by October 8, 2009. Space is limited, so please respond promptly. We are looking forward to working with you to make Ossining’s bright future a reality.
Sincerely,
Catherine Borgia - OCTC Co-Chair - Supervisor, Town of Ossining
